In memory of

Aloysius Fernandes

June 21, 1955 -  October 25, 2021

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Aloysius Fernandes on October 25, 2021 in Windsor, Ontario. Better known as Al, he left an impression on all who met him, brightening people’s day with his cheery demeanour, constant smile and laughter. He was a sweet, kind and generous man who always wanted to help others out in any way he could and only ever saw the best in people. He was an extremely intelligent man who was often caught reading a book, watching a movie or fixing any computer problems his family and friends had. Family was everything to him, he loved us all so deeply and was unfailingly loyal. He was one-of-a-kind, a true original who always had his own unique perspective and did things his own way. He was fiercely independent, continuously optimistic and would never give up on things that were important to him. For those who knew him best, we can take comfort in the fact that he did not suffer and was happy and at peace when he passed away.

He will be lovingly remembered by this daughters, Nicole and Lisa, his ex-wife Linda, his sisters Regina and Maria, as well his extended family including nieces, nephews, brothers-in-law, cousins and friends.

In lieu of flowers and in honour of Al’s helpful nature and lifelong love of animals, we request you consider making a donation to Covenant House or the Toronto Humane Society.

At this difficult time all the kind words and support are appreciated by the family. If you have any stories, photos, videos or anything that reminds you of Al we would be grateful if you would share them on this webpage.

Al was both family & a long-time friend to us from the time we were in Kuwait and now in Canada, and will be dearly missed. However, the pictures and memories of the wonderful times together especially in Windsor, sharing and laughing over old stories of our time in Kuwait and the crazy things we did together, enjoying the old pictures he preserved, will remain etched in our hearts and minds. Our sincere and deepest condolences dear Nicole, Lisa, Regina, Maria and all the family and our thoughts are with you all. Rest in Peace dear Al until we meet again. Cynthia & Louis Gonsalves
