Allan Lok Chiu

October 15, 1928 - November 20, 2023

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Lok Chiu (aka Chiu Kok Yee) at the age of 95 on Monday, November 20, 2023. Allan was born October 15, 1928 in Xinhui District, Guangdong, China. He was the dear husband of the late Patricia Chiu and loving father of Doris (William), Eva (Dave), Deanna (Norman). Dearest grandfather of Matthew, Megan (Kyle), Tina, Stephanie, Jessica (Gerhard), Denise (Cameron).

Allan moved to Canada in the early 1950’s where he started Yonge Garden, the first Chinese Food restaurant in North York. Several years later, he worked together with family at Ding Ho Chinese Food in Scarborough. He spent most of his life in Ontario living over 60 years in the same house in North York, moving in 2020 with Patricia to a retirement residence in Mississauga.

Allan loved his family more than anything else. He will be most remembered for his kind, generous nature, and of course his food!

I remembered 四叔 as a kind and hospitable person. He was always encouraging and fun to talk to. He was a loving husband to his deceased wife, caring father of his three daughters and grandchildren . I am short of comforting words to express this big loss to everyone who knew him. 四叔 rest in peace.

Sad condolences for your recent lost.
Mr Chiu had the fortunate to have lived a long and healthy life. He was able to see many of his grandchildren mature to adulthood. His days were surrounded with love and family.
