In memory of

Allan (Al) John Rutherford

June 28, 1927 -  December 8, 2021

Al’s family is deeply saddened to announce his passing on Wednesday, December 8th, 2021. Beloved husband to Wilhelmina (Mina) for 74 years. Al leaves behind their three children, Ronald (Susan), Gail (James) and Brian (Jill). He was a very proud Opa to his Grandchildren Tara (predeceased), Drennan (Alexis), and Lauren (Johnny). In addition he so very much enjoyed time with his great Grandchildren, Ashley, Carly, Paisley, and Levi. As well, Al will be greatly missed by his Austrian family and Brother-in-law Willi of Haliburton.

Al retired from Maple Leaf Foods after a successful sales career of 40 years. For the next 28 years Al and Mina would spend their winters in Florida where he thoroughly enjoyed playing golf, beating his buddies at billiards and dancing the night away at the many parties. His other love for many years was their log house in Haliburton which started out as a family cottage.

At Al’s request, there will not be a funeral. In the spring of 2022, the family will gather for a service and internment of his remains at Pine Hills Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

REST IN PEACE AL

Al, you will be missed terribly, and I always enjoyed playing golf and shooting pool with you, even though I never played well enough to beat you at either. Enjoy your well deserved rest.

I’ll always remember you and I sharing stories that included pool games, sports and jokes. I’ll miss your mischievous grin. I considered you to be a good friend.
Save me a good seat buddy.

Our paths didn't cross often enough but time spent with Al was always time well spent. A good host and a good guest he always managed to be friendly and funny with a just a touch of formality in his manners. Like my own dad, Al was great at the conspiratorial wink that made you feel like you were buddies, in on the same joke. Wish our paths had crossed more often. I will miss him.
