In memory of

Ali Hosseinian

May 27, 1971 -  April 28, 2022

Ali Hosseinian lived and loved intensely, without reservation. Born in Tehran, he moved to Canada when he wasn’t 30 yet. Like many others, as soon as he came here, he started working to bring over his new wife, his partner in life, Hanoosh. Then for a few years, it was a steady stream of friends who wanted to start a new life here, so he opened his home to help them settle. He made a team with Hanoosh and no problem was so big it could not be solved, no issue too great it couldn’t be tackled. Then came his daughter Shaliz, and fatherhood proved to be one more way in which he could express his love. He lived his life like a great adventure and shone a bright beam of light wherever he went, bringing a positive outlook on most situation. The diagnosis of cancer brought the greatest challenge, and in that challenge he fought hard and he did all he could to leave behind as many happy memories for Shaliz as possible. He passed away on April 28th at 5 pm.

He will be missed by his wife Hanoosh, his daughter Shaliz, his sister Nassim, his parents-in-law Mahnoosh and Hadi, his sister and brother-in-law Golnoosh and Omid, his family in Iran and his many friends on both continents.

In lieu of flowers, donations to Princess Margaret Cancer Foundation would be greatly appreciated.

For you Hanoush azizam for the journey ahead!

Such a sad yet true realization of loss…🖤

You Don’t Just Lose Someone Once
You lose them over and over,
sometimes many times a day.
When the loss, momentarily forgotten,
creeps up, and attacks you from behind.
Fresh waves of grief as the realisation hits home,
they are gone.

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every time you open your eyes to a new dawn, and as you awaken,
so does your memory,
so does the jolting bolt of lightning that rips into your heart, they are gone, again!

Losing someone is a journey,
not a one-off.
There is no end to the loss,
there is only a learned skill on how to stay afloat,
when it washes over.

Be kind to those who are sailing this stormy sea,
they have a journey ahead of them,
and a daily shock to the system each time they realise, they are gone, again!

You don’t just lose someone once,
you lose them every day,
for a lifetime! 🥀
