In memory of

Alfred Wang-Leung Jay

September 11, 1936 -  February 11, 2021

Dr. Alfred Wang-Leung Jay, 84, of Toronto, Ontario, passed away after a long battle with lung cancer on February 11, 2021. Just as he dealt with all experiences in life, he managed his illness with strength and grace, and wanted to spend as much time as possible with his loved ones.

Alfred was born on September 11, 1936 in Hong Kong to Kai-Chu Jay and Kwan-Yee Wong. He earned his Ph.D. (Medical Biophysics) from Western University and went on to become an Associate Professor and Research Scientist at the University of Calgary and later at the Health Protection Branch of Health Canada in Ottawa. He was also a lifelong entrepreneur. In his spare time, he loved enjoying time with his family, following Formula One, driving and racing his Ferraris, playing golf, investing in the stock market, fencing, karate, judo, tai chi, collecting guns and swords, cooking, traveling, cheering the Raptors, painting, and writing.

He was a kind and loving husband to Anita, and to his first wife Lily (deceased in 2001); a wonderfully supportive and generous father to his son Alfred Jr., daughter Lydia, stepdaughter Melanie (Nelson), stepson Justin (Lisa); and very proud and thoughtful grandfather to Kyra and Tyler. He is also survived by his siblings including much loved Juliana, Bryan, Calvin (Eva), Ernest (Lizzie), and their families.

A funeral service will be held (in person for a limited number of family members due to Covid restrictions), on Thursday, February 18, 2021 at 12:30pm at Elgin Mills Cemetery, 1591 Elgin Mills Road East, Richmond Hill, ON, L4S 1M9 and online at http://mountpleasantgroup.permavita.com/site/AlfredWang-LeungJay.html.
(A link to the live virtual visitation and ceremony will be posted on the site at approximately 12:30pm.)
