Alex brought so much inspiration to students at the University of Toronto. His dedication to teaching language and sharing knowledge will be greatly missed by students, staff, and faculty like me; he has shaped all our learning journeys, and was the foundation of Indigenous Studies. Micwec Alex, you will be missed.
My sincerest condolences, my heart goes out to you in your time of sorrow.
Dear. Virginia and family,
Although meeting you at Dreamers Rock some time ago, the impact on meeting you both and having the honour of receiving teachings from Alex along with Krissie will be a lifelong memory. My heart goes out to you at this time of deep grief. Tobacco will be laid and prayers sent up. May your days ahead be filled with tender memories and love.
With deep respect and sadness,
Kelly
I’m so thankful for Alex, he has been a guiding light and a fire for our people. His work with the University of Toronto has opened the doors for many Indigenous scholars like myself. Alex always encouraged me to speak my language and I will miss our Cree conversations. Rest In Peace in the living arms of Creator, Nistess, my brother.
