It is with deep sorrow and much love that we mourn the passing of Alex Cheung, of Toronto on June 20th, 2024. Alex is survived by his devoted mother, Lee Lam.
Born with a smile that lit up any room, Alex brought joy to everyone fortunate enough to know him. His boundless energy and adventurous nature made every moment with him an unforgettable experience. Whether it was exploring new places, cooking new foods, playing basketball, eating sushi, or simply just hanging out with him while eating hot pot, Alex approached life with a zest that was truly inspiring.
As a small kid, Alex was always very independent, his mom never had to worry about his homework from school, he always just studied on his own. At 18, he got a job and was super happy with his first pay cheque. He took his mom out for Mother’s Day dinner and asked his mom to order a glass of wine and as always he ordered way too much food. They both laughed because there was a lot of food left on the table. Alex is his mom’s best of the best friend and mom’s left hand when it comes to technology! His mom will miss Alex forever and he will always in her heart.
Alex was not only a great source of laughter and joy but also an amazing friend and the best family member. His mischievous grin and playful antics could brighten the darkest of days. He had a knack for turning ordinary moments into extraordinary memories, leaving a lasting impression on everyone he encountered.
On November 14, 2023, Alex was admitted to Toronto General Hospital. He was so brave and when his mom spoke to him, he couldn’t help but smile. For 7 months, he kept his chin up though he was so sick. His mom told him to keep strong and take it one day at a time. Unfortunately, his sickness got the better of him. He is in a better place now and no longer in pain.
Alex will be deeply missed and never forgotten, as his joyous spirit remains eternally in our memories.
Rest in peace, you big ball of sunshine.
