In memory of

Alda Maria Branco

October 1, 1944 -  November 28, 2024

BRANCO, ALDA MARIA (nee SOUSA) Shortly after turning 80, Alda passed away at home, her favorite place. A house that held her happiest memories with her late husband Helder, her children Paulo Branco (Danielle), Helena Consagra (Carmelo) and her greatest joys, her grandchildren, Alexandra, Thomas, Anthony and Matthew. Survived by her brothers, Jaime Sousa and Altino Sousa. Alda was a Tia to many nieces and nephews and was loved by all.

Alda immigrated to Canada in the late 1960's where she and Helder started their family. They both worked very hard and loved living in Toronto. Alda loved working as a seamstress at Tiny Tots. In 1982 they moved to Brampton where they would stay and become part of the community and develop strong relationships with their neighbors who became their friends. Alda often had tea with her neighbors and enjoyed taking them shopping on Thursdays when all the new sales came out. She loved her church, Our Lady of Fatima, and often attended mass and festivals with her friends and family. She loved her Portuguese soap operas; it was her favorite past time to sit at her kitchen table, watching the newest episode after her shopping trip.

In 2015, Alda was diagnosed with Multiple Myeloma, but that did not stop her. She underwent treatment and with her family and friends by her side, went into remission in 2016. In October of 2016, she traveled to Azores, Portugal to visit her brother and sister in-law, her nieces, nephews, great niece and many, many close friends. Reflecting on her life, it is clear that Alda was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, sister, Tia, and friend. It was the little things in life that brought her so much joy. She will be deeply missed by Paulo, Helena and their families, and will always remain in their memories and close to their hearts.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to cancer research at Princess Margaret, in memory of Alda, would be greatly welcomed, should you wish to do so.
