In memory of

Akhilea Ghounarides

December 15, 1938 -  December 30, 2024

Akhilea Ghounarides, a beloved husband, father, and grandfather, passed away peacefully on December 30th, 2024, at the age of 86 following a courageous battle with cancer.

Akhilea was born on December 15th, 1938, in Beirut, Lebanon. He was the proud son of Eugene and Marika Ghounarides, and the youngest of his siblings, Anastasia, Paul, and Eleni, all of whom predeceased him. Akhilea’s loved ones find comfort in knowing he has been reunited with his loving family in heaven.

Akhilea shared 53 wonderful years of marriage with his loving wife, Souna, and together they built a beautiful life. Akhilea was the proud father of Nancy and Eugene, who inherited his values of kindness and strength. He continues to live through his granddaughters, Nicole, Isabelle, and Sarah Jansezian. Whether it was sharing stories from his youth or offering his wise advice, Akhilea’s presence was a source of love and inspiration for his family.

Akhilea’s gentle humour and genuine interest in others truly defined him. He was a man who found happiness in the simple joys of life. Akhilea’s family and friends will forever remember his warm smile, his infectious laugh, and his thoughtful wisdom. His calm and light-hearted soul made him a source of comfort and happiness to everyone who knew him.

Friends and family are invited to celebrate Akhilea’s life during visitation on January 5th from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and January 6th from 12:30 PM to 1:30 PM. A prayer service will be held on January 6th from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM, followed by a burial immediately afterward.

The Ghounarides and Jansezian families extend their gratitude to all who have offered their support during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, the family asks for donations to be made to the Canadian Cancer Society in memory of Akhilea.

May he rest in eternal peace, reunited with his loved ones in the presence of the Lord.
