Aina will be missed. She was the kindest and sweetest lady I know.
My deepest sympathy.
Viegls smilts Aina!!
Visu prieku debesis
Aina became a dear friend from the first time I met her during a visit to her lifelong friend, Sofija Apinitis. That day, the three of us sat down together for coffee in the tiny kitchen of Sofijas then-condo. I learned that both women phoned one another daily "just to check in" and share events of day. I had the privilege of participating in many of their conversations and remembrances both sad and funny. My husband, Bob, also became a member of our little group of foursome, whether for Sunday brunch at the Latvian Centre, soup - sauerkraut everyone's favourite! - on Toronto Latvian Pensioners days - or on shopping excursions for hard-to-find pickled herring in beet sauce. Aina knew we were cat lovers, and she had a talent for recounting the often hilarious escapades of her beloved cat companion, Nala. Aina brought much joy and laughter into our lives. We remember her fondly and miss her greatly!
