In memory of

Aina Macernieks

December 13, 1925 -  November 11, 2017

Passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 11, 2017 (age 91) at Bethany Lodge in Unionville. Aina was born in Madliena, Latvia and came to Canada in 1951. She held various nursing positions, working at several hospitals, before retiring from North York General Hospital in 1990, after more than 20 years there. She loved gardening and photography and was active with her many friends at the Broadview Gospel Hall. Aina was predeceased by her parents Emilis and Marta as well as her youngest sister Ilga. She will be lovingly remembered by her other sister Velta (late Edgars) and her niece Vija (Bob) and their family, as well as her family and friends in Latvia. The family thanks the caregivers at Bethany Lodge for their kindness and care during the past 4 1/2 years. Funeral will be held at YORK VISITATION CENTRE (160 Beecroft Rd., Toronto, 416-221-3404) on November 14, 2017 at 2:00 p.m., with viewing one hour before. Donations in her honour to the Latvian Canadian Cultural Centre, would be most appreciated.

Dear Velta, Vija and Bob,
I would like to express my sincere sympathy on the passing of Aina. She was my aunt's Edite oldest and dearest friend and helped her in many ways throughout the years. Her dedication and energy were amazing and greatly appreciated. She always remembered all of us on special occasions and birthdays. Her artwork in leather remains with us as a fond memory.
May she rest in peace and be blessed by her savior.
With affection to all of your family,
Inese.

I meant Aina about 50 years ago at the Brackendale Gospel Hall in Toronto. She was a very active and intense and unique lady who had a real interest in winning souls for Christ. We had the privilege of being entertained in her home one conference time . I believe she was a prayer Warrior and in later years and it was her desire to support the work of the Lord anyway she could. She will be missed.

I have known Aina for over 40 years as an encourager in my efforts to work for the Lord in reaching people with the gospel message. She always wanted to know of activities and ways that she could pray for my wife and I. Her smile will be missed.

I am unable to attend the funeral as I am in Kapuskasing in northern Ontario for a children's Bible teaching program. God bless.

So sorry to hear the sad news about Aina. She was an important fixture in our neighbourhood for many years, and I've missed all the chats we had while she was tending her garden. Deepest condolences to her family, Kari
