Forever in our heart, a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, Aifeng Zhang passed away peacefully in her home in North York, surrounded by her family on October 8, 2020 at the age of 78, after a battle with stage IV pancreatic cancer. She is dearly loved and will be greatly missed by her husband of 50 years Ziqiang, her two children Qi and Yan, her son-in-law Gordon, her daughter-in-law Ying, and her precious grandchildren, Emma, William, Ryan, and Jack. She will also be missed by her surviving second eldest brother, her second oldest sister and many other relatives in China.
Born in China and as the youngest of five siblings, she lost her father during the Chinese Civil War when she was only eight. Her mother and siblings helped her continue with her education and she graduated from the Taiyuan University of Technology in Shanxi Province, the only member of her generation of her family with a university degree. She served as an engineer and later Deputy Chief Engineer and Department Head of a chemical company in Taiyuan, Shanxi Province, China. She devoted her life to her family, friends, relatives, and her career. After her retirement, her daughter sponsored her and her husband’s permanent resident status in Canada. They lived between the two countries and travelled around the world with her daughter’s and her son’s families.
Mrs. Zhang is remembered as a devoted wife, a loving mother, a doting grandmother, a caring and fun friend, a generous and kind person always helping others, and a smart and resourceful professional. She taught her children how to be a better human since their childhoods. Don't bully the weak and don't act duplicitously. Treat others well. Always look at the bright side and stay true to yourself.
We love and miss you forever!
