Agnia Elensky

Agnia Elensky (nee Diatroptov) lived a full and interesting life largely on her own terms. Independent until only a year before her death at 98, Agnia loved the home she had shared with her late husband, Eugene Elensky. She preferred to do things herself. She made her own clothing, walked a significant distance to the grocery store when she could no longer drive, read avidly, and formed her own opinions, which she often defended fiercely. Born in 1922 in a small settlement along the Trans-Siberian Railway line, Agnia grew up in northern Manchuria and then lived in Shanghai. She emigrated to Toronto with her husband and daughter in 1952. She became a highly valued employee of Craftwood Construction, where she worked as a bookkeeper until her retirement. Agnia never wasted anything. She enjoyed travelling and dearly loved her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Agnia will be greatly missed by her family and friends, among them her brother, Boris Diatroptov; her daughter, Nina Truscott (William Truscott); her grandchildren, Mark and Mary Truscott (Lisa Heggum and Klavs Dolmer, respectively); and her great-grandchildren, Lucy and Sam Heggum-Truscott and Maya Dolmer-Truscott.

The family wishes to thank the staff at the Village of Tansley Woods retirement home, where Agnia received loving care under difficult circumstances.
