A Sane Tsiu passed away peacefully on November 3, 2018 in Richmond Hill, Ontario. He was born on January 30, 1932 in Hanoi, Vietnam. He was on dialysis the last 15 years of his life.
Sane is survived by his wife, Ngoc Hoa Hoang; three children: Tu Hue Tsiu, Tu Linh Tsiu, Anh Tuan Tsiu; and five grandchildren: Jacqueline, Lucas, Jade, Phoenix, and Charlize.
Sane was a scholar throughout his life and was fluent in many languages including Chinese, Vietnamese, French, and English. He was a physician in Vietnam and he was recognized as one of the most outstanding contributors in internal medicine in the 60s in China.
In 1979, Sane and his family immigrated to Canada. He re-educated himself and worked as an immigration social worker to support his family in Winnipeg, Manitoba. He has helped many new immigrants settle in Canada. In his spare time, he served as president of the Indo-China Chinese Association of Manitoba. He founded and was the principal of the first weekend Chinese school, and opened the daycare under the Association.
In 2000, he retired and relocated to Toronto, Ontario where he devoted all his time to his family and hobbies. His daily retirement rituals included sipping hot tea, reading the newspaper/Time magazine, watching TV, taking very short walks, and sitting by the front porch. He continued to provide community support donating to charitable organizations.
Our beloved Husband, Father, and Grandfather, Uncle, and Friend, leaves a legacy that will live forever in our hearts by his kind, joyful, and humorous mind. His patience and smile will always be missed.
