In memory of

Yvonne Trapman

September 14, 1936 -  May 6, 2025

It is with profound sorrow that we announce the passing of Yvonne Trapman (née Monod de Froideville), who died peacefully at home on May 6th at 88 years of age.

Born in Indonesia in 1936, Yvonne grew up in the Netherlands where she met her husband John and moved to Toronto in 1958 with her newborn daughter Yvette. She quickly fell in love with this country and became an active member of many communities. In addition to raising 5 children, she was a member of the Toronto French School (TFS) Parents Association, a member of the Northwestern General Hospital Board where she organized very successful fundraising campaigns, and a very active congregant of the Timothy Eaton Memorial Church including a member of the Stephen Ministry and the Handicapable Ministry. She also was one of the founders and publisher of The Canadian Book of Charities for over 40 years which raised the profile of many charities across Canada.

She will mostly be remembered by all who knew her as a very fun-loving, kind, caring and generous soul.

Yvonne was the beloved wife of Dr. John Trapman; cherished mother of Yvette, John David, Audwin, Deirdre and Michon; much-loved grandmother of Stefan, Charlotte, Gabrielle, Margaux, Luke, Madeleine, Niki, Aidan and Jack; great-grandmother to Raija, Willow, Louise and Josephine; and step-grandmother to Dany, Francine, Brandon and Tyler.

The family would like to warmly thank Debora, Lucy and Allyn for the loving care they provided Yvonne and the joy they brought into her life. We are very grateful to Dr. Zive for the gentle care of Yvonne in her last days. Thanks also to the wonderful staff at Delmanor Prince Edward Seniors Residence for their kind support and care.

Visitation will be held on Wednesday May 21st from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., at the Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road.

The funeral service will be held at Timothy Eaton Memorial Church (TEMC) on Thursday May 22nd at 11:00 a.m. The service will also be streamed live at https://temc.ca/memorials (copy and paste the link into a browser).

The family invites you to share refreshments at the church after the service. The burial will follow thereafter at Mount Pleasant Cemetery.

Yvonne was a great believer in charitable giving. In lieu of flowers, donations in her name are welcome to Dorothy Ley Hospice or St. Joseph’s Health Centre or to a charity close to your heart.

Please accept my sincerest condolences… I’m so sorry for you and Cary and all your siblings for the loss of your Mum. Although I hadn’t seen her in years, my recollection is still of a strong and fiercely independent woman and a wonderful role model.
