It is with profound sadness we announce the peaceful passing of Yvonne Ginou (nee Karmanoff) on June 14, 2025, at the age of 86. Predeceased by her loving husband Stanley Arthur Ginou. Cherished mother of Anastasia (Stacey), Corey and sons in law Geordon and predeceased Frank. Yvonne adored her two grandchildren, Robert Stanley and Charlotte Alexandra, who made her heart sing with love and pride. She will be sadly missed by her two Sistores Stephanie Halen (Curt) and Nadine Smith (D'Arcy).
Gathering with family and friends to share laughs and great food was Yvonne's favorite pastime and she will be missed by her entire family, cherished inlaws, cousins, nieces and nephews, extended family and friends and her Godchildren Eric and Alexander.
Yvonne was born in Toronto to loving parents Donka and Lambro Karmanoff who fell in love through a photo and immigrated to Canada from Macedonia to start a family and live the Canadian dream. Yvonne was fiercely dedicated to her parents, her church and community and her sisters who came along a few years later. She was a beautiful sweet child who grew into one of the most beautiful women you've ever seen. She was fluent in both Macedonian and Bulgarian and regularly attended St. Georges Eastern Orthodox Macedonian Bulgarian Church where she danced traditional horos, participated in the Miss Macedonia contest, sang in the choir and was a pillar of support in her community.
Yvonne attended East York Collegiate where she was hugely popular and dynamically intelligent, became a cheerleader and the Queen of East York Collegiate. Yvonne was very artistic drawing fashion designs and landscapes. Her voice was that of an angel and she was the lead Soprano in her church choir. She was an excellent cook of traditional Macedonian dishes and an avid reader often reading many books in a weeks time. Yvonne was an active woman who loved dancing, golf and 10 pin bowling which she did until she was 75 when she took up Tai Chi.
On October 8th, 1960 Yvonne married the love of her life Stanley Arthur Ginou and gained an extended family of brothers and sisters whom she adored. The couple enjoyed many dances with a favorite spot being the Peppermint Club where she was a hat check girl with her eye on the dance floor. They attended many concerts and trips to Las Vegas to see musicals and concerts, her favorites being Tom Jones and Englebert Humperdink. They threw parties enjoyed life and soon welcomed two loving daughters and later a couple of cats. Yvonne was afraid of animals but went on to overcome that and adored cats, both her own and others until her passing.
In 1977 Stanley passed away, a complete devastation to her and her family. As time passed and grief softened she became stronger and raised her children as a single mother, working hard to provide through her careers as an administrator at Humber College, New York Life Insurance and Artmarketing, her brother-in-laws family office furnishings business. She made certain her children were well taken care of at all times and encouraged them throughout her life to accomplish whatever they wanted, even things she could not do herself. She was selfless and supportive, kind and compassionate with only loving encouragement never judging or mean spirited. She was a sensitive woman working hard through the many struggles in her life with an inspiring sense of power.
Yvonne had impeccable taste in fashion and decorating and always brought sparkle and sunshine to any room with her big beautiful and infectious smile. Dressing up was a joy but looking good was easy for this natural beauty with a heart of gold.
There were many challenges throughout Yvonne's life which she stood tall and strong to overcome but there never bad times and we celebrate her with complete pride and love!
IN LIEU OF FLOWERS PLEASE MAKE A DONATION IN YVONNES HONOUR TO A CHILDRENS CHARITY OR ANIMAL SHELTER OF YOUR CHOICE. THANK YOU
