In memory of

Yvonne Claire Whitehouse

December 8, 1935 -  June 6, 2023

Yvonne Claire Whitehouse sadly passed away on June 6th 2023 after a brave 10-year battle with a dementia ending Alzheimer’s. Yvonne was in her 87th year being born in Winnipeg December 8th 1935. Yvonne was the middle sister to predeceased Loraine (Olynyk) and Dianne (Olivier) and parents Fredrick and Kathryn Kuxhaus,

Yvonne was the beloved wife of Peter Whitehouse for just one week short of 68 years. Together they raised three children, Cindy Gaye (Harvey), Blair Peter and Scott Timothy Whitehouse. As a grandmother to Brennan and Jodi Harvey, and Nicole and Beverly Whitehouse, Yvonne was always full of joy and adoration for her grandchildren. Her loving spirit extended even further when she became a great grandmother to Theo and Cora Harvey.

Yvonne and Peter met at a Saturday night dance at the Winnipeg YMCA. The next date on Halloween1953 was an unplanned movie that turned out to be more than sentimental memories. The movie was called “From Here to Eternity”, which foretold their wonderful life together.

After graduating from West Kildonan Colligate, Yvonne worked in the Grain Insurance and Affiliated Inspection Bureau Office until after she married Peter and started a family. Later in life, with the family all grown up and moving to Mississauga Ontario, Yvonne retired after spending the next 28-years working in the Square One Shopping Centre Executive Office.

Yvonne will always be remembered as one who brought warmth and love to everybody around her and we take solace in knowing that, even though she is no longer with us, her spirit lives on in the memories of those who knew her. She will be deeply missed, but the legacy of love and hope will live on in our memory of her.

We would like to express our thanks and gratitude to the nursing staff and doctors at Credit Valley Hospital, Mississauga who provided exceptional understanding, compassion and kindness throughout her palliative care. Cremation has taken place.

Yvonne’s Memorial Service and Inurnment will be held at 2pm to 4pm on Saturday June 17th 2023 at Meadowvale Cemetery Mississauga. The family invite you to join them in remembering and celebrating the life of our beloved Yvonne. There will be a Reception after the Funeral. Details will be provided at the Ceremony.

Nanny, you are so deeply loved. I will forever cherish all of the moments we’ve had.

Thinking of happy times of shopping sprees, picking cherries off of your tree, and sick days as a kid at your house.

May you rest in peace. I’m sure your garden up in heaven will be incredible. Love you.

Mom... I only hope my words and deeds can express my love for you and your example of, character, integrity and what a true caring and loving Christian person is. Through your beautiful soul, you set the best example of how to be... not only towards our family, but, to others. Throughout your life, you carried yourself with an imbued selfless grace, great love, generosity, kindness, forgiveness, empathy and a caring spirit, which was marked with many wise words. I will always treasure those last remaining talks we had, while I held and comforted you at home knowing those were tears of joy and not sadness. Even on those trying days, when I could see you were struggling, you always gave me continued support to keep following my dreams and passion and asking God to... 'Bless my son, with a beautiful life.' I know that you are at peace and in the arms of our loving Heavenly Father. My peace comes from knowing that... I will see you again at that spot we talked about. Not a day will go by without me thinking of you and how your outlook on life set an example of how to live mine, even when things aren't happening on schedule. I truly love you Mom, with all my heart, now and forever... your son, Scott.
