In memory of

Yun-Kiu Chung

July 30, 1942 -  May 10, 2024

Gail Yun-Kiu Chung, 81, passed away peacefully on May 10, 2024 surrounded by family following a near 3 year battle with cancer. She is survived by her children Elaine, Wing (Sandra), and Wynnie (Nick), and grandchildren Samantha (Dominic), Rachel, Andrew (Patricia), Darren, Braden, and Curtis. Predeceased by her husband John Kwok-Yin Chung, daughter Lea (Yu Tin), and granddaughter Ellison.

Born on July 30, 1942 in Hong Kong, Gail was the oldest of 5 siblings and worked in a doll factory. Gail married John in 1962 and had 4 children together. In 1983, she immigrated to Canada with her family and lived along the St. Lawrence River in towns such as Morrisburg and Brockville. In 1987, she and her husband opened their family restaurant in Mildmay before selling it in 1993 to retire early. In her retirement, Gail took care and helped raise her 7 grandchildren, and enjoyed vacations in Hong Kong. In the summer of 2014, she was introduced to Mississauga Chinese Alliance Church and was baptized in December 2018. A strong matriarch, Gail did not let her cancer diagnosis in August 2021 stop her from living life to her fullest as she continued to spend time with her family and friends, garden, attend church, and go on cruises. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

A funeral service in memory of Gail will be held on Friday, May 17th at 11 am at The Simple Alternative Funeral Centre, located at 1535 South Gateway Road, Mississauga. Visitation will be from 9:30-11am. Pastor Pauline Hsu will be officiating.

REVELATION 21:4

"He will wipe away every tear from their eyes, and death shall be no more, neither shall there be mourning, nor crying, nor pain anymore, for the former things have passed away."

It is our treasure to have known Wynnie and Mrs. Chung. In our memory, Mrs. Chung had a pure heart and strong faith in Jesus. She loved coming to church, fellowshipping, and meeting with brothers and sisters. She had peace even in the last stage of her life on earth. 'You did not die; you just changed your home address.'"
