In memory of

Yuet Kiu Ng

Yuet Kiu Ng passed away on August 16, 2022 in hospital at the age of 96 in Scarborough, Ontario. She was surrounded by the love of her family both near and far. She is survived by her family in China, Hong Kong, Canada, and the United States of America.

A formidable, fiercely loving and devoted mother to Chun Kwun Poon (deceased), Zhen Yin Pan, Novina Lai Wah Wong (Tat Sum Wong) and Chun Sing Poon, she worked incredibly hard to raise them as a single parent in an era of monumental hardship in China and Hong Kong.

Affectionate and independent, she was a kindred spirit and will always remain a role model to her luckiest grandchildren Janice Wong (Dylan Smith), Karen Wong Riff (Gabriel Riff), and Michael Wong (Emily Chang).

Finally, she was never happier than in the company of her 5 great-grandchildren nearby (Eden Shai Riff, Emily Jean Smith, Grant Wong Smith, Isaiah Theodore Riff, Zachary Jun-Yuen Wong). To the end, she always found the energy to make them laugh with delight.

She spent her final years living happily and independently in her seniors home in Scarborough, where she was well known for her respectful mahjong manners as the host of the most collegial table. She thrived on enjoying dim-sum and delicious food on a regular basis with friends and family nearby.

Her unwavering charity, generosity and commitment to love and life will continue to inspire all those whom she has touched with her grace.

Please accept my deepest condolences over the passing of your mother, dear Mrs. Poon. I still remember her fondly when she first befriended my mom all those years ago. They were good mahjong chums. I have always been full of admiration for Mrs. Poon as a strong, resilient lady. She will be dearly missed.
