In memory of

Yick Shun (Jim) Taw

March 15, 1933 -  October 25, 2016

Dad passed away peacefully and comfortably at St. Micheal's Hospital Palliative Care Unit and joined spirits with our beloved mother Yee Nor, to whom he was married for 55 years before she died there on February 2,2014. He will be forever missed and cherished by daughter Dorothy and son in law Karl, their daughter Jenna who treasured her Gung Gung, son Gerry and his children Tameaka, Marissa and Nathan, who will always remember Yeh Yeh with love and his two great grandchildren Fae-Lynne and Pierce who affectionately called him Bak Gung. Born in Guongdong Toysan China, he came to Canada in1950. He spent the first 20 years working in restaurants including Nanking and Lichee Gardens in the original Chinatown on Elizabeth St. He went on to work for Canada Post for over 25 years, first in the sorting plant on Bay St where the Air Canada Centre stands today and then inside the registered mail office at 969 Eastern Ave. He lived at Avondale Retirement Residence for the past 6 years and left behind many friends there who will remember him for his "next year" Maple Leafs, love of playing the ponies and stories of Old Toronto. He taught us all about compassion, empathy, generosity and working hard. Lessons we will practice and carry with us always. He always placed you first even into his last moments he worried that we hadn't eaten or slept and put aside his own suffering. We are thankful to have had him as our rock, he built a good foundation and we hope that he will always guide us and that we make him proud.

Good memories I've had being friends with Dorothy & Gerry lead meet Mr. Taw. I will always remember the good times we had when Mr. Taw treated us for dim sum or a delicious meal at a Chinese restaurant.

Dear Dorothy and Gerry. I'm very sorry to hear of your father's passing. He, along with your mother were very kind and loving to us. I will always remember fondly the road trips that they included me and Jenny, especially the time they took us for a meal at Ponderosa restaurant.
My deepest condolences to you and your families.

I met him once and enjoyed it thoroughly. He was a kind man, a wise man, and left an impression on my and my children even with only meeting once! His daughter is a great person and that is thanks to this wonderful man. He will be missed all the way to the Yukon!!!
Enjoy your next journey!!!!
