In memory of

楊懿 Stella Yee Yeung

November 14, 1935 -  October 11, 2020

Stella Yee Yeung (楊懿) passed away peacefully on October 11, 2020, at the age of 84 in Mon Sheong Scarborough Long Term Care Centre (孟嘗士嘉堡長期護理中心) . She is survived by her son Kelvin Cheng, daughter-in-law Zoe, grandchildren Erica and Kaden, sisters Deanna Yeung and Teresa Chong, and brother Kam Fook Yeung. She was predeceased by her beloved daughter Amy Cheng, brother Kam Yuen Yeung, and sisters Bertha Cheung and Beatrice Ng.

Yee was born on November 14, 1935 in Zhongshan, Guangdong Province, China. She started her early education at Ling Nam School in Macau, finished high school education at Park Yu Boarding School in Hong Kong, and then attended the nursing school at Hong Kong Tung Wah Hospital. In March, 1962 Yee got her nursing diploma to start her life long career serving in the hospital.

Yee was married to Kar Leung Cheng in Hong Kong in 1960, had their first daughter, Amy Cheng, in 1962 and second son, Kelvin Cheng, in 1964. After her divorce in 1978, Yee raised her children in Hong Kong as a single mother. In early 1980’s, Amy was diagnosed with bone cancer. By 1984, she had to seek medical treatment at the City of Hope Hospital in Pasadena, California. Unfortunately, Amy passed away three years later in America. During this difficult period, Yee had to split time between her work and her responsibility in caring for Kelvin in Hong Kong and comforting Amy in Pasadena. She spent all she had, time, energy and resources on her children.

Moving to Toronto, Canada in early 1991, Yee started a new chapter in her life. Soon after settling down, she joined the New Covenant Alliance Church (基約宣道會) in Toronto and enjoyed the fellowship with the members there, especially Tim & Nora Kwok. She was baptized as a Christian in 1996. Yee worked as a private nurse in Toronto and retired about 15 years ago. In 2018, she moved to the Mon Sheong Scarborough Long Term Care Centre. Throughout her years in Toronto, Yee really appreciated the support and help from her church, especially from Rev. Ginny Chak & Patrick Chak, Elaine Kong, Raymond & Rita Mok, Minnie & Tim Lai, Yuet Sim Wong, Doris & Wilfred Owen, Godwin & Cherry Yip, Ka-Lok & Shirley Chan, Louisa & Toby Lau, Ricky & Diane Leung, Veronica Tang, Marinda To, Andie Mah, Mei-Yee Leung, June & Gary Xu and many other brothers and sisters in Christ.

Yee was a traditional Chinese lady. She liked to wear Cheongsam, Chinese hardwood furniture and Chinese painting. She also enjoyed cooking, and often did crochet knit sweaters for children.

Dear Aunty Yeung, it has been a privilege for me to get to know you many years ago. You had been a great friend and sister. Thank you for your hospitality when you invited us to your house for dinner, it took you a whole day to prepare the special dishes to entertain us. And I still remember your friendship with my mom, how you used to visit her in the nursing home and brought her yummy dishes just to make her happy. Thank you Aunty, rest in peace now in the arms of Jesus, we will see you again!
Love, Ginny
