Brenda Wai Chee Wong (née Fong), age 70, of Toronto, Ontario passed away November 28, 2022, peacefully in her own bed at home.
Brenda is survived by her husband Lung Chun "L.C.", daughter Vicky (Geoff), grandchildren Colin and Leah, son Peter, three sisters, and three brothers.
She is preceded in death by her father Cheung Kui Fong, her mother Dip Yee So, and three sisters.
Born in Hong Kong, Brenda and L.C. traveled to Atlanta, Georgia in 1974 to study at University. Brenda balanced multiple jobs while earning her B.A. (Georgia State University) and M.B.A. (Mercer University). In 1979, the couple married and four years later, the young family moved to Toronto, which would become their permanent home.
Brenda was a devoted mother, wife, sister, and friend. She was inexplicably loyal, absolutely principled, and incredibly driven. In addition to volunteer work with school children, she managed both her own household and her own business with a sharp wit and a warm touch. Throughout her life, Brenda donated to organizations that improved the lives of women around the world.
In her free time, Brenda loved tending to her garden and exploring new restaurants. She enjoyed traveling with her family and especially loved chocolate, cheese, and coffee. Brenda was a fantastic cook, bringing friends and family together with food and conversation in her kitchen. Later in life, Brenda gained an appreciation for yoga, and was recognized as a dedicated student and friend to those at her studio.
A heartfelt thank you to the amazing medical professionals and palliative care specialists at Mount Sinai Hospital who showed world-class expertise and compassionate care throughout Brenda’s battle with cancer.
Friends can visit with the family on Monday, December 5, from 10:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m. at Brenda’s Memorial Service, York Funeral Service, 160 Beecroft Rd. North York, ON M2N 5Z5.
