It is with much sadness that we share the news of Fanny’s passing peacefully at AgeCare Aurora on May 17, 2025 in her 89th year.
Fanny was the beloved wife to the late Jim Paxton. Fanny is predeceased by her parents Winnifred & Orlando Feaver, sister and brother-in-law Bertie & Bud, sister and brother-in-law Jean & Larry, sister Jeanette, brother-in-law Bob, and sister-in-law Marjorie (Atlanta, GA). Left to mourn are her sister Helen, brother Robert, many very special nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews, great-great-nieces and great-great nephew. Fanny will also be missed by many dear friends.
Fanny was born and grew up in Corner Brook Newfoundland. She moved to Toronto in 1964 where she applied for a job at Acadia Insurance. She was hired immediately and remained with that one company, now Northbridge, and grew with it as it grew until her retirement in 1998.
Fanny met the love of her life, Jim, in Toronto and they were married on May 18, 1968. Sadly, Jim passed away on July 27, 1993. They celebrated 25 very happy years together.
Fanny had a passion for baseball all her life, having followed the Brooklyn/LA Dodgers during her time in Corner Brook and early years in Toronto. No one was happier than Fanny and Jim when the Toronto Blue Jays were born in 1977. From the beginning it was Fan Club, Spring Training, tickets to at least one game of every home series and many out of town series. Finally, around 2001, Fanny became a season ticket holder and renewed every year up until COVID. She attended every game every year, always arriving early to chat with field staff. She knew most of them by name. Family knew not to plan major events like weddings and birthday parties unless the Jays were out of town! Fanny made many lifelong friends through Blue Jays baseball. She was an avid collector of Blue Jays memorabilia right from Opening Day. It seems there could never be too much! Fanny continued to enjoy watching the Jays on TV until her recent failing health this season, but the game was still on even on her last day.
The family would like to thank the caring staff at AgeCare Aurora, as well as SHN and SRCH for their support.
Cremation has already taken place as per Fanny’s arrangements. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 12 at Pine Hills Cemetery and Funeral Centre (625 Birchmount Road) from 12:00 noon to 2:00 pm. Blue Jays attire is encouraged but certainly optional. A selection will be provided. A graveside interment will follow after for those who wish to attend.
In lieu of flowers, donations to Jays Care Foundation, a favourite charity of Fanny’s, would be appreciated.
As Fanny would say LET’S GO BLUE JAYS!
