In memory of

Wing Kong Leang

LEANG, WING KONG

Passed away peacefully at home, surrounded by loved ones on Sunday, July 8th, 2018 at the age of 90 years old. Wing immigrated to Canada from Guangdong, China when he was a young man. He quickly adapted to life in Canada and it wasn't long before he started a family (had six children) and opened up the iconic Wing's Restaurant in Streetsville, Ontario and operated it proudly until his retirement. With a great smile that made people feel welcome and comfortable, he respected his customers and they in turn respected him. He was a hard-working, kind and generous man, always willing to help others. As homage to his roots, Wing was honoured to be member of the Xinhui - Sun Wai Wai Yuan Society of Toronto and sat on the board for many years. But his family was everything to him. He was the family 'glue' and was always planning get-togethers and big meals with his genuine appreciation for good food. Wing will be sadly missed by many.

Beloved HUSBAND of Leang Lau, Kim Yim. Loving FATHER and “Best DAD in the World” to Mary (Jim, pre-deceased) Phillips, Linda (Garth, pre-deceased) Jung, Peter (Jayne) Leang, Lily (Jack) Goode, Lori Leang and Ken (Seda) Leang. Cherished GRANDFATHER to Jade (Rex) Winters, Jacob Goode, Jasmin Goode, Garrett Jung, Sam Phillips, Rachel Leang, Jacqueline Jung, Kai Leang, Keegan Leang and GREAT-GRANDFATHER to Rex Winters Jr. Loving SON to his parents, father Leung, Hing (pre-deceased) and mother Lee, Yook Yee (pre-deceased). Dear BROTHER of May-Yee (Kwok-Leung) Tak, May (Ming) Chu, Amy (Tun-soon) Yee, Ben Leung, Yim Kuen (Bruce) Yee, Mei (Raymond) Chan. He also leaves behind lots of happy memories for his many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

He was "one of the nicest guys you'd ever meet" and our world's were enriched, by having him as a part of our lives. Our hearts are heavy with sorrow, but full of wonderful memories. Rest in Peace Dad.

I was just talking about your dad today to my wife. I mentioned the pails of potatoes I peeled when we lived next door. Your dad was truly a gentleman...My thoughts and prayers are with all of you at this time.

Thanks for all the yummy Chinese food in Streetsville.

My deepest condolences to the Leang family. When I think of my childhood, I have many happy memories because I think a big chunk of it was spent with your family. I’ll never forget the legendary Christmas family gatherings as well as simply hanging out. Thank you for being such a generous and loving uncle. Although we didn’t speak much to each other your actions speak louder than words. It’s obvious you’ve had such an impact on those around you. I will miss your warm smile and your energetic spirit.

Love,
Daisy
