In memory of

William Gook Jum "Bill" Chan

William Gook Jum Chan, affectionately known simply as Bill to his many friends, was born on April 4 1963 in Hong Kong. His family moved to Canada when Bill was still a toddler. Bill grew up in Toronto and spent all of his formative years in Toronto as well.

Bill was an Adventurer in every sense of the word. He personified the old flight school adage "Attitude Determines Altitude" to the fullest. He soared high in life because he always maintained a positive outlook to everything he did. As one of his recent friends said: "Bill simply made the world a better and more fun place to be".

Bill never liked to say goodbye....he would often leave on his next adventure without fanfare or much planning....Whether it was a trip to Europe to deliver a plane, or a fishing outing, scuba diving, camping or skiing with the kids or off to Nairobi to start a business flying tourists....he would always just do it.....no big planning session....He just did it. He enjoyed nothing more than spending his time with his family. His children: Sabrina, Catriona, Roger, Diana & Amelia & his wife Taina.

So, it is on this next adventure that we bid him farewell and await his next post card

...... We miss you

William hired me 2 years ago, although I was falling short of being hired, with his grace he still took a chance with me took me under his wing. Although we don't see each other much I was glad when he told me I'm doing a good job during the review recently. Thank you for encouraging me to be a better technician and I don't have to look any where for a better exemplar.

Worked for Geopixel under the name Elrepcon. I will miss our talks about flying, fishing and camping. I flew many times on Applanix test flights with William as a wannabe co-pilot. I will truly miss him.
