It remains a terrible shock to realize you are gone. Your text "Mechanics of Machines" is a great testimony to your work and the excellence of your research and teaching. Your contributions and career are a model for academic eminence. Your departure is a considerable loss to the university and community. I will also miss our many conversations and your insights.

Professor Cleghorn was a nice gentleman who was very helpful to me about 23 years ago when I took over the Coordinator of the UofT Day Open House from him. He kindly passed over all the well organized documents that he made and they made my job much easier. He was quiet but he was cooperative in many things that I did. I thank him very much.

I am very sad to hear that Bill has passed away. He was incredibly kind to me when I first joined the department, and had a big impact on the way I teach. I likely would not be here at MIE today were it not for him. He was very passionate about his work, and he will be missed.
