In memory of

梁肇基先生 Wilkie Leong

April 4, 1935 -  September 28, 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we share the peaceful passing of Wilkie (“Kie”) Leong on Wednesday September 28, 2022.

He spent his earlier years in Canton (Guangzhou), China; Lourenco Marques (Maputo), Mozambique; and Hong Kong. Most of his working life was in South Africa raising two children before moving overseas and fulfilling his wish to make Canada home.

Wilkie was a devoted and proud husband to Jennie; father to Bailey and Isabel; father-in-law to Julie and Nicky; grandfather to Ryan, Brendan and Meghan; and brother, uncle and friend to the many that knew him.

His family was always his priority and he will be lovingly remembered by all of us, here in Canada, in South Africa and around the world.

A visitation and funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 8, 2022, starting at 2:00PM E.T. at the York Cemetery Chapel, 160 Beecroft Road, North York, ON M2N 5Z5. Family and friends are kindly invited to attend on Saturday. He will be cremated per his wishes in a private ceremony.

A dinner reception at Legend Chinese Restaurant in Thornhill, ON will follow on Saturday October 8, 2022 at 5:00PM.

For those who wish to join online, a livestream link will be made available starting at 2:00PM E.T. on Saturday, October 8th.

Our eartfelt and most sincere condolences to Aunt Jeannie, Bailey, Isabel and the whole Family. We will always remember Uncle Kie for his amazing generosity and devotion to our family. He often invited us plus other uncles, aunts and cousins out for dinner at seafood restaurants before seafood was known in South Africa. I remember first eating peri peri prawns. Uncle Kie only had one flaw, he was an avid Manchester United fan and was very biased, something he has passed onto his son,Bailey our cousin. Uncle Kie may you rest in peace, no more pain or suffering and may God bless you. Aunt Jeannie you and your Family remain in our prayers and thoughts.
