In memory of

Wilhelmina Rutherford

June 10, 1930 -  April 11, 2022

Wilhelmina Rutherford
June 10, 1930 - April 11, 2022

It is with great shock and sadness that the family of Mina (to family), Willie (to friends) have to announce her sudden passing at Trillium Hospital, Mississauga. Wilhelmina, wife for 74 years to Allan (predeceased Dec. 8, 2021) was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey to Cecilia and Wilhelm. They chose Canada to raise their two daughters, Wilhelmina and Cecilia (predeceased 2019) (Willi).

Mina and Al met while working at Eaton's dept. store in Toronto as teenagers. They had three children, Ron (Sue), Gail (James) and Brian (Jill). Her and Al so enjoyed the times spent with their Grandchildren and great Grandchildren. They felt very fortunate to have been able to spend time with them as they were growing. Mina leaves behind an extensive family in Austria that she so loved and admired.

Wilhelmina was renowned for her lack of patience, not holding back her opinion and a knack for telling it like it is. She always told the truth even if it wasn’t what you wanted to hear.

Cremation has taken place. The family will reunite Mina and Al with a private graveside gathering in June.

Condolences and/or memories may be left on the Meadowvale Funeral Centre online memorial...remembering Wilhelmina Rutherford.

Rest In Peace Together

I always had a smile on my face each time I saw Willie. We would always have a laugh. I always knew where the half filled candy jar was sitting. I was told by both Al and Willie that I didn’t have to ask, just help yourself.
Dianne liked Willie very much.
The building misses Al and we certainly miss Willie.
They were a great couple.

Willi will be missed by many as she always had a story to tell and enjoyed a good joke. Al’s grandmother lived in Collingwood a couple of blocks from where I lived for a few years as a child and we had fun reminiscing about the area. May family memories comfort you as you cope with their passing.Gail Ellis
