In memory of

Walter Llewellyn Love

December 21, 1928 -  January 20, 2018

Walter Llewellyn Love, age 89, passed away at the Lakeridge Health Center on January 20, 2018. Walter was born in Saskatchewan but moved to Calgary with his family when still young. He graduated from the University of Alberta and initially worked as a high school teacher in Edmonton. After a few years of teaching he took a job with the training department at General Motors where he worked until he retired. The job at General Motors took Walter with his wife, Hilda, and two young daughters to Oshawa where he lived the rest of his life.
Walter will be sadly missed by his daughters Dawne (Jim) and Cheryl (Doug). He will be lovingly remembered by his six grandchildren Patrick (Kristin), Kathryn (Andrew), Christopher, Scott, Charlotte (Mike) and Heather (Matt) as well as his two great grandchildren Jasper and Ellis. Walter was predeceased by his wife of 65 years, Hilda, in November 2017.
Walter loved the outdoors and particularly enjoyed camping, canoeing and observing wildlife. He was an avid birdwatcher and photographer. He liked to develop his own pictures and built himself a darkroom in his home. Walter was, at one time, a licensed mechanic and he was able to fix not only cars but anything that needed repair. He was also accomplished at carpentry. He made furniture, several sets of kitchen cupboards and completed many home improvement projects. Walter played the saxophone and played in a swing band when he was younger. He continued to enjoy music throughout his life, particularly from the swing era. Walter and his wife learned ballroom dancing together and for many years enjoyed an active social life with the good friends that they met through dancing.
A private celebration of life will be held by Walter’s immediate family.

We are feeling such a complex set of emotions, sadness that he has passed, yet glad that his pain is over, and glad that he did not have to live long without his beloved wife. Our thoughts are with all of you.

Our sincere condolences to you and your family. I will always have fond memories of trailer trips with your parents and Physics lessons from your Dad!
Your children were fortunate to have had both of your parents in their lives for so long.
May those memories be cherished.

Dawne , Cheryl and families,
Our thoughts and prayers are with you at this time.

We cherished the many Thanksgiving weekends that our families shared in Algonquin Park, our related dogs and the many fun times we all had together.

It was a pleasure to work with Walter for for many years at GMOC. He helped pioneer new ground and innovative training methods. He was a detail-oriented perfectionist who always demanded the best from everyone that worked for him as well as from himself. Perhaps one of things that I will never forget is his unique and infectious laugh. Walter had a great run at GMOC and will be missed by all who brushed shoulders with him. Best regards to all his family and co-workers

Walter, Hilda, Dawne and Cheryl were neighbours in the early 60's on Westdale Street in Oshawa - we sometimes went camping with them, birthday parties, fireworks and just having fun as kids
