Gardening was one of his favourite hobbies along with cooking and sharing his cooking …. Fishing for compliments. His love for life attracted people to him wherever he went, and people were proud to know him. He was an amazing “nose “ guitarist and proudly played at his birthday parties. Hans Ruch (Grandson Bond is my son-in-law)

Entered May 29, 2020 from Sechelt, BC

We only met a handful of times during my visits to Toronto and only had brief conversations with a lot of hand signals and gestures.

One of my most vivid memories is him at a beach in Cuba, surrounded by young ladies wanting to take selfies with him.

He always looked like he thoroughly enjoyed life. His spirit and zest for life will live on through all of his family and friends.

Rest In Peace Wha Shing Leung

Cat Uncle had a wonderful and fun 102 years of life. His love for a fun life is contagious. He enjoyed simple things in his life and he perfected the way he enjoyed them to the fullness. He gardened, he grew the brightest and biggest flower you could imagine. He cooked, every dish came out easy to do and tasty. He had a health remedy for every thing and it works. Cat Uncle, we miss you and we miss a loving and faithful friend whom I can always go for a piece of objective advice. I am still using your recipe for 糯米飯 being cooked in the steamer you bought for me when you came to Chicago in 1989. I will take good care of the jasmine plant you gave me. I am sure you will have a good chat and 打麻雀 when you see my father. Miss you !!

"Cat"

Felix the cat.

Wah Shing was given the nickname of "cat" since his army days. Even at the nursing home, he was known affectionately by the staff as "Uncle Cat", or “猫叔”. When he signed cards or guests books he would use this as a trade mark next to his signature.

The family had cats and dogs when in Hong Kong. But he cared most for his chickens.

"Sunflowers"

Entered May 29, 2020

Sunflowers. His pride and joy in the backyard. Grown from a one-of-a-kind fertilizer. The petals could be kept and dried for use later on as tea. They often grew to be taller than the average person.

One of Wah Shing's greatest passions and hobbies was spending time in the garden with his plants.

"100th birthday"

Entered May 29, 2020

March 20th 2018.

Wah Shing celebrated his 100th birthday! Family and friends from around the world travelled to Toronto, Canada to celebrate with him. It was a grand night, and there was champagne, cake, and lots of sumptuous and delicious food.

But the greatest takeaway that night was the love people had for Wah Shing, and the stories and memories everyone shared. For example, Wah Shing once kept a goose in Hong Kong, which acted like a guard dog, and chased and bit a young boy who was a family friend coming to visit.

"Travelling"

Entered May 29, 2020

Wah Shing travelled a lot. This picture was taken in Hualian, Taiwan in 2001.

There was one time when he was travelling to Costa Rica. He got off the plane at Nicaragua by mistake. It was one of the most terrifying moments for him, as he did not know anyone and could not speak the language. He barricaded himself in the hotel room, and did not sleep that night. Thankfully, nothing happened. He even met the president's wife at the airport the next day. Although he did not know of her identity until later on.

"Dressing up"

福心施捨吓 “人間的真愛”

Giving to those without is mankind's true happiness.

Words of wisdom, empathy, and charitableness from Wah Shing.
