In memory of
Virgil Nicoara
December 11, 1956 -
June 21, 2018
Virgil Nicoara was born on December 11, 1956 to his parents Didina and Costantin Nicoara.
As soon as Virgil was born, his upbringing became the main priority of his parents. His mother always taught him to respect both his peers and others, in the Romanian Christian tradition. His mother was constantly searching and reading about children’s education. This hard work proved to be fruitful. Virgil grew into a happy, kind, respectful, confident and inquisitive young man.
He graduated from high school in his Romanian home town of Suceava in 1975. After one year of military service, he completed 5 years at the University of Bucharest, specializing in Automation and Computers. Upon graduating in 1981, Virgil returned to Suceava as a young engineer and started his first job at the Electrical Network Company. It was not long thereafter, in 1985, that he met and fell in love with Lucia. They were married only 10 months later, on July 26, 1986.
They did not waste much time in starting a family - only two years later in 1988, their daughter Iulia was born and years of a happy family life soon began.
In 1999, the family emigrated to Canada. For the following 5 years, Virgil found himself working harder than ever to support his family in their new country. He was always happy doing this, because his main priority was the well being of his daughter and his wife.
Virgil was following his mother’s footsteps in raising Iulia. He was there for her day and night, always ready to guide and help her. For Lucia, Virgil was her main emotional support during all those difficult years during which she was becoming a doctor in Canada.
As new challenges presented themselves, Virgil supported Lucia’s medical career. Between 2011 and 2017 they lived and worked in Northern Ontario’s town of Moose Factory. Although it was definitely colder there than in any other place they had lived, Virgil always brought warmth to the household. These were also wonderful years of family travels and celebrations which took Virgil all over the world. After many adventures and successes, they were ready and happy to relocate to Mississauga.
Unfortunately, just one year after the family was together again, Virgil began facing his own challenges. He was diagnosed with an extremely aggressive form of cancer. This tested his Christian beliefs, but he never waivered. For almost 5 months he was under the care of a medical team at Princess Margaret Hospital, with his wife, daughter and mother in-law constantly by his side. These were months of incredible physical sufferance. Despite that, Virgil maintained his composure, kindness and determination to fight the disease and to stay strong for as long as possible. He was always ready for a smile, or a story.
On June 21st he passed away and returned to God peacefully, with his family by his side. Always the peacemaker, Virgil never sought conflict. He had a personal grace and humility which brought people together. In fact, his nature brought him closer to many people in all walks of life. His loving and caring relationship with his mother-in-law was a shining example to us all. His dedication to his daughter, Iulia, and to his beloved wife made it difficult for Virgil to ever leave their side.
He will be missed every day by all those whom he touched with his beautiful soul.
