It is with sadness that the family of Victor Manoel D’Oliveira announces his passing, which occurred on October 15th, 2024, in North York, Ontario.
Victor was born in Guyana in 1943 to Egbert and Maria D’Oliveira. An avid soccer fan (Arsenal was his team), Victor enjoyed playing the sport on a team as a youngster. He also enjoyed staying up on world events by watching the news and discussing politics and history. Travel was another one of Victor’s favourite pastimes, and he explored most of the Caribbean during these adventures. Victor was also fascinated by horses, with which he shared the virtues of energy, strength, and stamina. He worked at Banks DIH and also commentated the horse racing in Guyana.
Victor is survived by his wife, Mary Jane Bancud, and his children; Lu-Ann, Dianna, Suzanne, Sven, and Priscilla and predeceased by his son, Mark.. He will be remembered by his sisters Margaret Mekdeci, Jeannette Ramos, Monica Rodrigues and by his cousins, nephews, grandchildren and great grandchildren. He will be dearly missed.
Mary Jane remembers how Victor used to say “I did it my way”, quoting his favourite Frank Sinatra song. She will love him forever.
