It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Velika Stajov (nee Terziev), peacefully on May 28, 2025 at the age of 97.

Velika was a loving and devoted wife to the late Tasho Stajov and a cherished mother to Mary Nikolovski (Mile), Helen Catania, Peter Stajov (Diane) and George Stajov (Joanne). Velika was a proud Baba to 12 grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren.

Velika is predeceased by her husband Tasho, her son Peter, her son-in-law Mile, her brothers George (Christina), Kocho (Hrisula), her sister Anastasia, her brother-in-laws Elias and Stavre and her parents Kirste and Lena. She will be missed dearly by her sister Mora and sister-in-laws Christina and Hrisula and remembered fondly by all her nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends.

Velika was born in Tserevo, Lerinsko, Macedonia on January 10, 1928 and married her childhood sweetheart and lifelong best friend, Tasho Stajov. In 1958, together with their four children, they embarked on a journey in search of a better life in Canada. Velika and Tasho settled in Burlington, Ontario where they worked together at F.W. Fearmans Co. Ltd. and provided a wonderful life for their family. Velika and Tasho were very involved in the Macedonian community and devoted much effort to the founding of St. Naum of Ohrid Macedonian Orthodox in Hamilton.

Velika had a kind and generous heart and always drew laughter from those around her. Her family was her pride and joy and meant the world to her. She will be remembered fondly and missed deeply by all of us.
