Marcelino, Vaneza Angela
July 10, 1978-April 13, 2023
On Thursday, April 13, Vaneza “Bunny/Vannie” Angela Marcelino passed away peacefully at the age of 44 after a battle with ovarian cancer.
Vaneza was born in Toronto, Ontario on July 10, 1978 to Sylvia (in memorium) and Carlos (in memorium). She was the only daughter and the youngest of three children.
Vaneza had a strong, loving and immeasurable bond with her mother, Sylvia. Her Lola, Laureana Escobar (in memorium), also had a huge impact on her life. She provided her with love, guidance and helped her through challenging times acting as a second mother to Vaneza after Sylvia passed away. Her step-father, Jacques Bernard (in memorium) also provided her with love and support.
In her youth, she was a free-spirit and loving child known for her beautiful smile which got her into modelling. Although she was diagnosed with a mental illness, she kept that same smile on her face. But just like anyone else, she had her good days and bad days.
Her two beautiful daughters, Lauren and Naomi serve to keep her memory alive. As their mother, her love for both her daughters was undeniable.
Vaneza will be fondly remembered and loved forever by her brothers Ian (Geraldine) and Oliver (Erin), along with her step brothers Sebastien and Olivier (Jennifer). She will also be remembered by her many aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins. She has left a lasting impression on all our lives. Her quiet, but fun-loving energy will sorely be missed along with her infectious laughter.
We love you, Vaneza – you will never be forgotten and live forever in our thoughts and prayers.
Visitation (10:00am) and funeral service (11:00am) will be held on Friday April 21, 2023 at Pine Hills Cemetary and Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Rd, Scarborough ON. The burial will be at Christ The King Catholic Cemetary, 7770 Steeles Avenue East, Markham, ON.
In Vaneza’s honour, memorial donations can be made to the Canadian Mental Health Association (www.cmha.ca), Dorothy Ley Hospice (www.dlhospice.org) or the Canadian Cancer Society (www.cancer.ca).
