<div itemprop="description">It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Valerie Ann Kay on September 12th, 2014 at the age of 59. Valerie passed away peacefully at Sunnybrook Hospital surrounded by her family. Loving wife and soul mate of Rick Buckingham of Toronto. Loving mother and best friend to Scott Wilkin of Toronto, Meaghan Wilkin of Kingston and pseudo-adopted mom to Trevor Koebel of Toronto and Jamie Franken of Woodstock. Valerie is survived by her brother Jim (and Ann) Kay of Oshawa and sisters Iris (and Guus) Van Kestren of Boca Raton and Christine (and James) Lochrie of Toronto as well as her numerous nieces and nephews (with their spouses and children); she is predeceased by her brother John Kay, and parents John and Iris Kay. Valerie had an illustrious career in real estate and corporate commercial law. With forty plus years as a law clerk, Valerie will be fondly remembered by the many colleagues, clients and families she has helped over the years. At Valerie&rsquo;s request, cremation will take place prior to visitation at The York Cemetery and Visitation Centre, 160 Beecroft Road Toronto, Ontario (Yonge &amp; Sheppard). A visitation will be held on Saturday September 20th, 2014 from 4-7 p.m., followed by a memorial celebration of life ceremony beginning at 7p.m. Valerie was an avid gardener and animal lover. As expressions of sympathy, donations to the Bank of Montreal Community Account (#3055-8633-787) would be greatly appreciated by her family. All donations will be matched by Valerie&rsquo;s family and will be given, in her memory, to the Toronto Humane Society and the Ontario Society for the Prevention of Cruelty toward Animals (OSPCA).</div>
