In memory of

Helen Vahaviolos

1929-2022

PLEASE NOTE: Due to weather conditions, the graveside service for the late Helen Vahaviolos has been rescheduled for Tuesday, January 18th, at 2:30 P.M.

Helen Vahaviolos was born in Tripi, Sparti on May 5th 1929. She was the fourth of eight children born to Ioannis and Anna (Giannopoulos) Stassinakis. On October 17, 1954, she married George Vahaviolos from Mystras, a nearby village. Soon after being married, in the spring of 1955 they left Greece for Canada. They landed on the shores of Halifax, then travelled by train to Toronto to start their new life.

Helen was a dedicated caring mother to Nick and Angela (George). Through the years, while raising her children and taking care of the family, she also worked at the family business. She was a loving treasured grandmother to Anna (Jimmy) and Pano (Ellie). She was also the very proud great grandmother of Thanasi, Tia, and Angela.

Helen Vahaviolos spread her love, laughter, wit, and zest for life leaving a lasting impression on all who knew her. At family gatherings she was her happiest, cherishing these special moments.

During Helen’s most difficult times she never faltered. She persevered and always had hope. On January 14, 2022 she left us with her unforgettable memory. She will be deeply loved and greatly missed by all of us, as she truly was one of a kind.

Helen is predeceased by her brothers and sisters Rita (Nick), Potoula (Panagioti), Yiorgis (Evgeneia), Kostas, Tommy (Georgia), sisters in law Evdalia, Adonitsa (Jimmy), Dina (John), brothers in law John (Helen) and Kostas.

Helen is survived by her beloved husband of 67 years, children, grandchildren, great grandchildren, brothers Peter, Ilias (Maria) and sister in laws Panagiota, Hari (Jimmy), Mata and, Tasia, nieces, and nephews.

My deepest condolences to Θειο George, Angela and Nick.
May God bless Thea and welcome her with open arms to guide her in her new journey of LIFE.
May she be reunited with her siblings as they await her arrival.
She was a woman with great strength (now that’s a true Stasinakis) and always wanted to be around her family.
We all cherish the memories and her love for everyone.
Remembering her jet black hair, baby face and red lipstick. And all the good times at 87 Castlefield with the orange Tang, popcorn and cheesies.
Love and miss you Thea. Xoxo ❤️
