It is with deep love and profound sadness that we announce the passing of Umberto Staffieri, at the age of 94, on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Beloved husband of Emilia for 68 years and cherished father of Anna (Rocco), Gino (Lisa), Frank (Paula), Ivana (Paul). He was the proud nonno of Steven, Anthony (Yumi), Victoria (Daniel), Adam (Sarah), Daniel (Hannah) and David.
Umberto will be fondly remembered by his extended family including many nieces and nephews.
Umberto was born on March 30, 1931, in Sora, Italy. In 1961, he immigrated to Canada with his wife and two young children. Like so many before him, he came for better opportunities, but never forgot the traditions from back home, patiently and lovingly growing his garden and making wine and tomato sauce.
Umberto was hardworking, softspoken, humble, kind, and a gentle soul with a warm disposition. He loved to read and was content in his own company. Above all, he valued family and friends, and all were welcome into his home.
We would like to thank the staff at Langstaff Square Community for their compassion in caring for Umberto over the past year and a half.
