Tony Lam

August 6, 1933 - May 3, 2023

Tony Wing-Nin Lam 林永年, age 89, passed away peacefully May 3, 2023 at Amica Unionville, Ontario, Canada. He is survived by his wife Irene, married 61 years; daughter Michele, married to Gordon with children Rachel and Tomas; son Michael, married to Dorothy with children Laken, Carter and Skylar.

Born August 6, 1933 in Hong Kong, he was the youngest of 3 siblings - Anna and Helena. He travelled to Australia for high school and then to the University of Idaho for Civil Engineering. He settled in Toronto, Canada to raise a family and have a rewarding career in Engineering Management at Ontario Hydro -he was responsible for transmission lines throughout the province. Tony was an avid golfer, badminton and ping pong player. Ever the handyman, he would go above and beyond, tinkering with repairs and renovations around the house. He pursued his passion for boating, purchasing several boats to enjoy life on the lake. Tony took an early retirement to travel with wife Irene and also spend time with his dogs and family.

Tony was always positive to the challenges that life presented. Even in the end, he had no regrets as he lived a life fulfilled.

Tony’s final wishes: “One has to go sooner or later. Try to make my final go away occasion a light hearted one, like the old Chinese saying “smile funeral”.

A visitation will begin at 10am, followed by a service at 11am on May 10, 2023 at Pine Hills Funeral Centre, 625 Birchmount Road, Toronto.
