In Loving Memory of Tony Tung Choy Lee
March 17, 1931 – October 6, 2025

It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Tony Tung Choy Lee, who left us peacefully on October 6, 2025, at Mackenzie Richmond Hill Hospital. Tony was born on March 17, 1931, in Sunwui, Canton Province, China, and lived a life full of achievement, dedication, and love. Tony was lovingly known as T.C. and Choy Gor.

Tony was a devoted husband to his wife, Maria Yuet Chun Lee, and a proud father to his seven daughters, Sandy Lai Yan Lee, Corinne Lai Kuen Lee (Patrick), Claire Lai Bing Lee (Kevin), Belinda Lai Sum Li (Patrick), Louise Lai Sin Lee (Alan), Teresa Lai Na Lee, and Lisa Lai Shan Lee (Chuk Yan). He also left behind five grandchildren (Ethan, Paco, Matthew, Tze-yeut and Tze-ching) who will deeply miss him.

On September 26, 1985, Tony moved to Canada from Hong Kong with Maria and their youngest four daughters. He worked tirelessly to ensure their well-being and success. His love and wisdom will continue to guide them for years to come.

In his early life, Tony was a gifted student who achieved top ranks in his classes, often competing with his older brother and a cousin. He excelled in both Chinese and mathematics during his high school years, showcasing the sharp mind and determination that would serve him throughout his life. He went on to build a successful construction business in Hong Kong, where his hard work and integrity earned him the respect of many.

Outside of his professional life, Tony was an avid reader who enjoyed staying informed about current affairs, always keeping up with books and newspapers. He also had a deep interest in horse racing and occasionally played a card game and mahjong with family and friends. He always wanted to win.

In reflecting upon his life, we remember Tony for his unwavering generosity and selflessness, always putting others first and taking action to help them right away. Despite his quiet and stern demeanour, he was incredibly considerate and always made sure those around him felt valued and cared for. His presence brought joy and created cherished memories for everyone, and his legacy will forever be etched in our hearts.

The funeral visitation, service, and burial to honor and celebrate the life of Tony will be held on Saturday, October 25 between 1 PM – 3:45 PM at Elgin Mills Cemetery, Cremation and Funeral Centres. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations to the Alzheimer Society of Canada as a tribute to his memory (link on the Donations page). Your presence and support during this difficult time are greatly appreciated.

Mr Lee left a wonderful legacy through his daughter, Sandy Lee, a woman of deep compassion, love and integrity who leaves everyone and everything she touches better than she found them. Our friendship began in 1988 when Sandy became AA to my late husband, Academic Vice President, Hong Kong Baptist University and continues today. My prayers are for comfort for all the family.

Dear Mrs. Maria Yuet Chun Lee and the Lee Family,

Please accept my deepest condolences on the passing of Mr. Tony Tung Choy Lee (T.C., “Choy Gor”). His lifelong devotion to his family, his integrity in his work, and his quiet generosity have left a lasting example for all who knew him. Though reserved in manner, he made others feel valued and cared for, and his wisdom will continue to guide those he loved.

As extended family through my younger brother, I have witnessed the love and strength that flow from the home Mr. Lee built. May cherished memories bring you comfort in the days ahead, and may his legacy live on in his beloved wife, daughters, and grandchildren.
