A strong man, committed to the values he believed in and the family he loved, Tom was taken from us much too soon. Tom was a dedicated father to Brittany and Stephen, a doting grandfather to Peyton, and best friend to Rejeanne. He admired his son-in-law Chris and always looked out for his sister Brenda.
Tom gave his all—in his family, in his friendships, in his golf and poker games. Especially cherished were his twice weekly date nights with his granddaughter Peyton, who he taught to bake, ice skate, bike ride, and so much more. Tom loved being in business and acted with integrity throughout his forty-year career. And he valued his many business contacts. As he said, “In the final analysis it’s not just business because it is personal.” He made a positive impact on so many.
Above all, Tom cherished his family. He was the problem solver, the strong shoulder, the staunch defender. The voice of reason and understanding, he was always there when you needed someone to talk to – or when things weren’t going so well. Tom was the go-to-guy for a Christmas tree, a good deal, or a flat tire. You could always count on him. A good man who wanted to do good, Tom Copeland leaves behind a lasting legacy.
Donations can be made to the Canadian Cancer Society (Tom had esophageal cancer. This is a rare and under-funded illness. We would appreciate you selecting “Esophageal Cancer Research,” where it says How would you like to direct your donation) or donate to Sunnybrook Hospital Hurvitz Brain Sciences Program (Tom was very grateful to the team at Sunnybrook Hospital when his daughter Brittany suffered a brain injury. A donation to the Hurvitz Brain Science Program would mean a lot to him. Please select Hurvitz where it says designation).
