In memory of

Thomas Randmaa

April 14, 1967 -  February 5, 2022

It is with heavy hearts we announce the sudden passing of Thomas Randmaa on February 5, 2022 at the age of 54. Thom will be missed by his beloved partner Louise. Also missing him dearly will be his loving and caring parents, Hanno and Malle, his brothers, Ric - predeceased, Steve (Colette) and Ed (Nikki) along with his nieces and nephews: Madeleine, Luc, Ryan, Sarah, Simone, Ella and Tallula.

Born and raised in Toronto, Thom graduated from Sir John A. Macdonald Collegiate Institute. He went on to study at the University of Western Ontario as well as the University of Toronto. He was determined to pursue a career in film, television and entertainment. His career started in Toronto and it quickly took him to Vancouver and Japan as well as many other sites around the world. He then settled in California (Los Angeles and San Francisco) for a significant number of years working in the film and entertainment industry.

As a Visual Effects Producer, he worked on many notable successful films and projects throughout the years. He then returned to Canada to continue his career where he collaborated in producing many television and documentary productions.

Thom was an ‘aficionado’ when it came to the art of film, he loved to talk about it with everyone that would listen. He had a known love for comics and music. Known as the foodie of the family, he spent a lot of time in the kitchen. He would constantly experiment pushing the envelope cooking and sharing with family and friends.

As an avid prankster, Thom would only prank those that he admired and loved. Those that were on the receiving end knew that it was an honour to have been pranked by him.

Thom was generous of heart and spirit. He loved life and freely shared his time, talents and resources. He will be missed by many near and far away.

In the coming months, as the weather gets better, in late spring/early summer, as the world gets a bit healthier, we will be having a Celebration of Life gathering to honour Thom.

In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity or cause of your choice to remember Thom.

It was with great shock and sorrow that I heard of Tom's sudden passing. He was, and we were, always planning that big family get-together again that he and his brothers contributed to so well on their parents 50 years in Canada. I remember him with love for his kindness to my Erik, for his fun attitude taking part in family gatherings. Tom was, and now I see it clearly, an extra-ordinary young man of many talents and enormous kindness to family. You blessed us all with your presence! Rest in Peace!

Our sincere condolences to the Randmaa family. We are all so saddened with this news. Tom was a great character with energy and spirit and I always enjoyed my time spent reconnecting as an adult and looking up to big cousin as a kid. Thom will be missed. With love and sympathy, Mark and family.

Thom and I had a fun bond, I called him my big brother and he called me little sis. We always had fun together, whether it be talking about different foods, music, movies. I was blessed to be able to get to know him and be a part of his family. You will be really missed big brother. <3
