In memory of

Thomas B. Scott

July 15, 1922 -  May 15, 2016

Dr Thomas Barrett Scott
It is with profound sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Dr Thomas Barrett Scott on Sunday, May 15, 2016. We are grateful for the love and life we shared, and his ongoing presence in our lives.
Tom's life took an abrupt turn when he decided to leave England for a one month vacation to Canada in 1953 and never returned. His life would change again 4 years later when he met the love of his life, Sylvia (nee Quinn) on a raft in the summer of 1957 and was engaged the follow-ing day. They were married 3 months later and remained together for 58 blissful years.
He will be greatly missed by Sylvia, his daughters, Hilary and Bronwen, granddaughters Melia and Brynna (Scott-Jordan), son-in-law Doug (Sharp), and extended family and friends.
We wish to extend a special thank you to Dr. Martin Betz and the staff at Sunnybrook hospital for their kind and considerate care.
Friends and family will be gathering to celebrate Tom's life at Mount Pleasant Visitation Centre, 375 Mount Pleasant Road on Thursday, May 19, 2016 at 1 pm for the visitation, service to follow at 2 pm. The family requests that in lieu of flowers, donations in support of either the Canadian Wildlife Federation or Sunnybrook Hospital would be appreciated.

I have been a close family friend of the Scotts for over 20 years. During that time, there having been many celebrations at our respective homes and elsewhere. Each visit always began with a warm hug from both Tom and Sylvia to begin and end the festivities. They have a special way of making each and every one who passes the threshold of their home feel immediately like family, with an abundance of love for all

Dear Sylvia, Hilary, Bronwen, family

I am so sorry to hear of Tom's passing. I was fortunate to spend Thanksgiving with you all at Chris' place this past October and will remember fondly the love that you all shared.
I didn't know Tom very well but from the first time I met him I felt embraced.
Sending my love to you to all at this difficult time.

It is remarkable how one person can impact even those once removed. "Uncle Tommy" influenced, supported, and loved my best friend Laura and through her I came to know his beliefs, his intelligence, his love for family and devotion to "Aunt Sylvia". My heartfelt condolences to his family.
