In memory of

Sylvia Marilyn Scott

SYLVIA MARILYN SCOTT

On August 15, 2017, Sylvia Marilyn Scott "stepped out" to join her husband Tom in eternity as promised him prior to his passing on May 15, 2016.
Sylvia was a charismatic independent spirit with Lauren Bacall looks and a gift for entertaining. Her spontaneity and adventurous nature took her around the world, introducing her to people from all walks of life. It was not uncommon for her to befriend complete strangers and bring them into our lives and home. She was the ultimate "Hostess with the Mostest", much like the title character from Auntie Mame, who believed in living life to its fullest. The same play she saw in New York City on her honeymoon in 1957, 3 months after meeting the love of her life on a raft in Lake Kashagawigamog. They enjoyed 58+ wonderful years together - the talented Canadian artist and the compassionate English doctor. She died peacefully at home, surrounded by the people and things that she loved, after a 9-month battle with cancer.
Sylvia leaves behind her daughters Hilary and Bronwen, son-in-law Doug, granddaughters Melia and Brynna, sister Barbara and her partner Andre, niece Laura, nephew Nigel, along with extended family and friends.
Our thanks to Drs. Kendall and Goldman of Mount Sinai Hospital, Michelle from St Elizabeth's, everyone at the CCAC, and the continued support of close friends and family.
Special thanks go to her trio of remarkable caregivers Marissa, Sonia and Elnora, whose constant and consistent care and compassion enabled her to pass peacefully at home.
Friends and family will be gathering to celebrate Sylvia's life at Mount Pleasant Funeral Centre, 375 Mt Pleasant Rd (east gate entrance) on Thursday, August 24th at noon for the visitation, service to begin at 12:30 pm. In lieu of flowers, please donate to a charity of your choice.

We were so very sad to hear this news. It is hard to imagine that such a vibrant and full-of-life individual is no longer with us. Sylvia was a wonderful woman and it was such pleasure to be in her company and have her energy, enthusiasm and love of life and people flow over us. She was very special and will be sorely missed. We send you all our deepest sympathy. With love, Vivienne and Michael

PS We will be out of town on Thursday so unable to attend the service but we will be thinking of you.
