It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Sushil Kumar Kaushal on 20 January 2022. Devoted son of the late Barkat Ram and Sumitra Devi Attrey. Beloved husband of Saroj. Loving father of Suneeti (Tony), Arti (Marilyn), and Deepak (Nuria). Doting grandfather of Sarika, Aedan, Amaia, Armaan, and Roan.

Sushil was predeceased by his sister, the late Chander Kanta (late Dharampal), and will be missed by his brother Ashok (Pushpa), his sister Kamlesh (Yash Pal), and all of the Kaushal family to whom he will always be known as “Papa”. And he will be honoured by the many extended family and friends who brought warmth, laughter, joy, and love to his life.

From Sialkot to Toronto, with stops in Delhi, Bombay, and London along the way, Sushil lived life to the fullest. He was a lover of many things — music, movies, design, architecture, golf, and parties — and shared that love with all around him. Papa knew everything about the golden age of Indian cinema and was always ready to talk about Raj Kapoor, Dilip Kumar, and other artists. He made sure his children knew all the scenes and songs from his favourite film, Barsaat. After he retired, his greatest comfort and joy was his wife and the time they spent together. He relished his role as Dada and Nana and showed his grandchildren how to live a full life on their own terms.

Papa will be remembered as he was in his prime: full of zest and passion, with big smiles, and a welcoming heart. He will be forever missed.

I had the honour of meeting Sushilji, a very dignified and a real gentleman at SEC at our special events. We were all very touched by his politeness and a contagious smile. He will be missed by all of us.
May God grant him the Moksha, that he deserves. Om Shanti, Shanti.
We share this loss with the Kaushal family.

He was like my older brother. When I heard the news about his passing away I cried loud in my home. Because of COVID restrictions and my poor health I can not attend his funeral but my thoughts are with him. I talked to him 10days before his death.
My heartiest condolences to Saroj, Nitu, Arti and Deepak

Mama jee was a very caring, loving and well respected in the family and friends circle. He respect each age groups, I did not spend enough time to learn other qualities he had but I am hundred percent sure that he was a great husband, father, father in-law and grand father. We will miss him so much, will pray to god to give the whole family more strength to bear this big loss at this difficult time.
