In memory of

Susanna Wong

August 3, 1973 -  October 22, 2017

Susanna Wong, left for her heavenly abode on October 22nd 2017.

She was just 44 years old.

We were married in Calcutta in January 1995. Shortly after, we moved to Canada and settled down in Vancouver where we spent three wonderful years. Thereafter, we shifted to New York - working and living it up. Golden years. New York made Susanna mentally tough, preparing her for the challenges that were to come.

After Matthew was born in 2002 in New York, we decided to move back to Canada and made Mississauga our permanent home. Susanna played such an important part in launching Ming Room and the success thereafter that came along. Nicholas was born in 2004 and Susanna loved bringing up the boys. Great kids and very proud of them.

Always smiling and a great mother, your culinary skills were always in high demand for our two ever hungry boys and anyone who tasted your food. Always willing to extend a helping hand, you were ready to jump into any situation that needed your help. This is a great value you have inculcated in our two boys. Talking of the boys you have nurtured them brilliantly and they have grown up very well.

Cancer took you away. You fought valiantly till the very end - for over 4-1/2 years. Right till the end, your spirit stayed strong, despite the multiple chemotherapies that did not work. Even to the last day, you maintained hope, trying new therapies. Despite the outcome, you will forever be an inspiration to friends and others suffering from cancer.

You were suffering even when we went over to New York to attend to my father’s funeral in February this year. That was the last time we all met as a family. You were so brave and was full of energy even then. Our last family trip to cottage country two months ago will be memorable.

We will miss you Susanna. You were too young to go. Amongst some of the last words to me – “I know you and the kids will be fine”. We will try our best. But it will be a very difficult job without you!

You talked about meeting up with my parents, my brother Kenny and some of your best friends in Heaven – Shalu and Lydia.

Will always love you forever Suzie. So long, till we meet again.

Susanna Lee (as I knew her then) was very much a part of our growing up years in Pratt Memorial School. Always cheerful and a great friend. We parted ways after school and reconnected again on facebook. She suddenly disappeared from FB the reason of which is clear now and haa left a deep voud in my heart. May God give the family to bear this loss and lots of hugs and blessings to her wonderful boys.

My fondest memories of my sister is from when we were very young - maybe 7 to 10 years of age. Getting together with the younger kids in the neighborhood, and playing on the terrace. Re-enacting scenes of movies, building tents, pretending to be adults - random things limited only by our young imaginations. She loved to sing and dance - her lively and indomitable spirit was always there - which made her the 'key' person in these play sessions. One thing I have learnt from my sister is that you can never give up, and that the spirit is much stronger than we can ever imagine.
