In memory of

Sukhda Sukhdeo

May 19, 1932 -  June 30, 2025

Sukhda Sukhdeo, 93, of Mississauga, passed away peacefully at Cooksville Care Centre on the evening of June 30th, 2025, surrounded by her loving children and grandchildren.

Born in Triumph Village, East Coast Demerara, Guyana, she was predeceased by her husband, Sukhdeo “Dell” Avatar, her parents, and several brothers and sisters. Widowed at a young age, "Ma", as she was so fondly known, devoted herself to raising her five children alone, working tirelessly to provide for them.

She is survived by her children: Kamla (d. Neville), James, Lalita (Mukesh), Renuka (George) and Devendra; her grandchildren: Faud (Kelly), Waheeda (Paul), Carl (Karen), Melinda, Melissa, Nadia (Kingsley) and Shantel (Ryan); her great-grandchildren: Kaelan, Mikayla, Tristan, Savannah and Isabella and her brother: Deopaul Singh.

Sukhda embraced every role with unwavering love—mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, cousin, aunt, friend—filling lives with warmth, devotion, and care. After immigrating to Canada, she dotingly watched over her grandchildren: preparing them for school, cooking every meal, and sharing in the purest joys of those years. She genuinely loved being a grandmother and experiencing the sweetness of family. Her warmth, vibrant spirit, and endless affection created cherished memories across generations.

A celebration of Sukhda’s life will take place at Meadowvale Funeral Centre, 7732 Mavis Road, Brampton, Ontario.
Visitation: Sunday, July 6th, 2025, at 5:00-8:00 P.M.
Service: Monday, July 7, 2025, at 11 A.M. with a burial to follow onsite at 1 P.M.

If you would like to send a floral arrangement, please order through Omni Flowers (905-451-2828) as they are familiar with her preferences. In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that memorial donations be made to Sprint Senior Care, a local nonprofit supporting seniors and caregivers (https://www.sprintseniorcare.org/donate/donate-now/).
