Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, attendance at the visitation and funeral service is by invitation only however the funeral service will be livestreamed for public viewing on Sunday, April 18, 2021. (a link will be available on this memorial page at 1:40 p.m.).

It is with great sorrow that the family of Suit-Ching Koo Lui announces she has made her final transition. With her two daughters at her bedside, Suit-Ching passed on in peace, comfort, warm in her bed at home on April 10. 2021. She was predeceased by her husband Wing Cheong Lui and leaves behind her devoted and loving daughters, Betty San-Chee Lui, and Dr Amy San-Oi Lui, (Keith Cancel). Also grieving her loss are her two Grandsons, Matthew Keith Cancel and Brayson Tse-Yeung Cancel and their newest family member Yuki.

She will be missed by her late husband’s siblings and their spouses, Helen Lui, Kwai-Cheong Wong, Mui-Cheong Wong, Lan-Cheong Lui, Chu-Cheong Frank Lui and Mary Lui and as well by her many nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

Throughout her life Suit-Ching worked tirelessly alongside her husband to provide for her two daughters. Even during times of difficulty and struggles she ensured that her daughters were well taken care of. Suit-Ching was a registered nurse in both China and Hong Kong and although had built a good life she chose to leave that life behind and relocate to Canada to provide a safer and better future for her children.

After immigrating to Canada she cared for her family and In Laws balancing home life with work as a babysitter, a home sewer, a nurse's aid, a home knitter. For her last place of employment before retirement she was invited to work alongside designer Vivienne Poy due to her excellent skills and impeccable workmanship in sewing, knitting and crocheting.

She wore many hats throughout her lifetime but her most cherished role and greatest commitment was her role as Mom. She always put her own needs second to tend to the needs of her two daughters so they would always feel supported and loved.

Her quiet tenacity, hard work, perseverance and abundance of love will be missed by all those touched by her. This is how she faced her last days on earth with her loved ones, full of grace, quiet tenacity, perseverance and her heart overflowing with love.

Betty and Amy wish to acknowledge and extend their sincere gratitude to Dr. Maria Yu (Family Physician and lifelong friend). Dr. Yu gave the gift of life and time with their Mom. In her final weeks the Palliative team of PSW Polly Keung, RN Monica Ng and Palliative Specialist Dr. Herman Yeung went above and beyond to ensure Suit-Ching’s peaceful transition. To these individuals we give thanks and owe our deepest respect and gratitude for being true heroes during this world-wide Pandemic.

Suit-Ching’s beautiful life will be celebrated by her family and friends on Sunday April 18th at 1:15 pm at the Elgin Mills Cemetery and Crematorium, 1591 Elgin Mills Rd E, Richmond Hill ON L4S 1M9 Canada

I remember first meeting Mrs. Lui when I was in High School. She was always so friendly and very witty, especially with her nickname for Amy’s boyfriend at the time.

My condolences to Amy and Betty, and the rest of the family.
