Far too soon, Steve.
Thanks for the '90's.
You were a good time.
And delicious.

There are a few people who help make up a community who truly deserve the term "beloved neighbourhood character". I like to think that Steve was one of those people. I used to love seeing him on a Friday night in Mavericks when he would drop by to decompress and get away from his own customers for a few minutes. His dear, smiling face was always a delight to behold, and he was always up for a friendly chat. I last saw Stevie in his favourite environment - an Argonauts game at BMO field. Again, that smiling face was a beacon of joy in a busy football crowd, and it was very evident how happy he was to be there in that moment. Steve was definitely one of a kind; a neighbourhood stalwart; much loved and sadly missed. Farewell friend. Go in peace.

Met Steve in 1979. We both worked at Frank Vetere's pizzeria on Bloor St. We became very good friends and travelled together to Florida and Trinidad and Tobago. Steve was also the best man at my wedding in 1986. We have always kept in touch with each other these many years. He will never be forgotten and may he rest in peace.
