In memory of
Stephen Summers
April 17, 1931 -
June 16, 2019
On June 16th 2019, in his 88th year Stephen Summers passed away peacefully in Barrie, Ontario. Born in Toronto on April 17th 1931, he was the devoted son of the late Cecilia and Stephen Schweighardt. Stephen grew up in Toronto and successfully established his self-employed Appliance Refinishing business.
Predeceased by his brother John Summers and brother-in-law Conrad Dutschek. Survived by his sister Helen Dutschek and sister-in-law Anne Summers.
Anne-Marie, mother of his children, Peter (Loretta), Paul (Adelina), Marianne, Elizabeth Rennie (Adam) and Steven Jr. Stephen was proud of his legacy of nine grandchildren; Michael, Christina, Megan, Brendan, Isabella, Gabrielle, Stephen, Sabrina and Lauren. Also dearly missed by his many nieces, nephews, lifelong neighbours and friends.
His strong faith in God and cherishing the simple pleasures of the great outdoors by taking long leisurely drives across the Province and spending majority of his years in Muskoka at his cottage were all Gods creations he much appreciated.
In his spare time he was an avid Blue Jays fan by following their games, but also read and watched history documentaries. Shared his stories with his grandchildren and dear siblings, whilst having coffee and eating his delectable treats. Stephen’s specialty was baking blueberry pies and creating Hungarian dishes such as “chicken paprikash”, which he without a doubt shared with family and friends.
Stephen, Dad, Papa will be greatly missed, however the memories he created will live on.
In lieu of flowers please donate in loving memory of Stephen to the Parkinson Society of Southwestern Ontario: https://www.canadahelps.org/en/dn/11203
