In memory of

蘇蓋華先生 Stephen Koi Wah So

April 19, 1948 -  July 16, 2019

Stephen Koi Wah So passed away peacefully at home on July 16, 2019 at approximately 8:00am, aged 71. Stephen is survived by his loving wife, Marie and his two sons, Michael and Marcus.

Stephen, born in Hong Kong in 1948 to So Chick Nam and Yuen Wan Han, was a well respected executive in the advertising industry in Hong Kong and Canada for over four decades. He was Vice-President, Director of Print Production in Toronto’s advertising firm ACLC when he retired.

Stephen was a loving husband, devoted father, a beloved son to his parents and respected brother to his siblings. He followed Marie Hsieh, the love of his life, to Toronto in 1976 and they were married on November 5th the same year. Their loving marriage was blessed with the birth of their two sons, Michael and Marcus, on November 11th, 1980 and April 29th, 1985. Stephen dedicated his life to love his family. He was a loving husband, a father, teacher and friend to his beloved sons Michael and Marcus. His greatest joy was always to spend precious time with his wife and his two sons.

Stephen was a self-made man, a bon vivant and a problem-solver who was always willing to lend a helping hand to colleagues in work and to his friends. He was a gourmet and enjoyed travelling, golf, and pickleball. He was a keen competitor in work and in sport, always improving on himself while he enjoyed playing golf and pickleball with his neighbour at local facilities.

Diagnosed with cancer ten years ago, Stephen fought valiantly the illness with nonchalant. He lived life to the fullest until the last moment. He will be deeply missed and fondly remembered by his family and friends.

A funeral service is scheduled for 9:00am on July 27th at the Elgin Mills Funeral Centre. Please click on "View Funeral Details" for address and further information.

Since 1986 we have lived directly across from the So’s and enjoyed many chats, birthday parties, and some getaways with our combined four sons. Stephen was hard working but his retirement enabled him to relax, travel and enjoy golfing and pickleball which he enjoyed a lot. I will miss seeing him every day whenever he took his walks with little Yogi. Rest In Peace dear friend. With much love to you and your family. May 💕🙏

I was very saddened to hear of Stephen's passing. We worked together at ACLC for 5 years. Stephen was extremely good at his job, he excelled at creating good work and he pulled all of us up to his level of perfection. He taught many of us so much.
While he took a lot of pride in his work, I know his passion was his family. I remember he would often talk about his boys with much happiness, joy and pride.
My condolences to Marie, Michael and Marcus
